Just to let you all know that I’ve added a page to my website giving a bit of information on the area I grew up in, imaginatively entitled “Where I’m from“.

As those who have visited my website will know, web design is an occasional hobby of mine. I have recently completed a site for a customer in Manchester, a training company called Diversity+. They specialise in diversity and equal opportunities training.
I hope you will join me in wishing them all the best for the future - if you have an appropriate place in which to place a link to their site I’m sure the proprietor would appreciate it

I saw Anger Management on Sky last night, and I have to say I didn’t find it particularly funny, especially in comparison to other Adam Sandler movies. There were occasional funny moments, but they were too sparse. The plot, where Sandler’s character is wrongly forced by the courts to undergo anger management at the hands of Jack Nicholson, was pretty weak. Some of the scenes didn’t seem to have any purpose except to make you cringe…
50 First Dates was much better, as it had a stronger plot and more laughs. I’d give this one a miss.

Even the most optimistic Black Cat would have been surprised if we had won this game, up against a team in line for a Champions League place at the end of the season. Everton were comprehensively better than us, although Sunderland battled throughout the game. Their goals were courtesy of James McFadden, James Beattie (although it was apparently a Danny Collins own goal) and Tim Cahill. A full match report on the SAFC website can be found here.
As nasty a cliche as it might be, at least this gives us the opportunity to concentrate fully on the league. No-one on Wearside can be looking forward to the prospect of the play-offs again, but we are going to have to become more consistent if we are to gain automatic promotion, especially considering that our final few games of the season are particularly tough.

If you’ve had to suffer the incredibly annoying Crazy Frog ringtone adverts on UK music channels recently, you will definitely want to be signing this petition!
Edit: for those unfamiliar with the Frog, the BBC have written an article on it.

My final exam was yesterday, so normal service can be resumed once again! They didn’t go exactly to plan, so I’m going to be sweating for a few weeks until the results come out. They’re even more important now because I’ve accepted an offer to stay in the Chemical Engineering deparment at the University of Sheffield to do a PhD - but I have to get a first class degree for the place to be available. No stress there then I’ve also sorted out where I’ll be living. I’m going to be sharing a two bedroom flat with a friend who is also staying on. It’s in a nice quiet area and has the all-important garage for storing our bikes.
I’ve been taking a bit of ribbing from my friends of late for writing this blog, which doesn’t really contain a lot of useful information. I think it’s nice to have a more dynamic aspect to my website rather than just having the pages which remain relatively static for long periods of time. What reasons do you cite to friends and family for blogging?
