In May 2006 I gave a peripheral blood stem cell donation, which achieves the same effect as the traditional bone marrow donation. Click below to see my posts on the subject:
27th Jan: An unexpected letter
25th Feb: Drained off
24th Apr: The donation is on
10th May: Hopefully over the final hurdle
12th May: The donation is *definitely* on
26th May: First injections
1st June: All done!
The process is really very simple and in the event you are matched to a potential recipient it usually doesn't involve an operation as it used to.
Joining a register only involves giving a small blood sample at a registration session, so what are you waiting for?
